The Tender Side of Tomorrow
The tender side of tomorrow rests inside of analog clocks and empty freeways with only beams of red light to separate the hollowness of another setting sun
I dreamt you left a river inside me as I floated on a paper boat tracing your hand in the water
With rocks in our pockets we left the shore behind us, seeking a new thing. Outside of ourselves the world between us we’d crossed on lifted bridges ice skating over the truth of broken hearts and spaghetti dinners for two
We dropped her off in northern california a small pack on her back, a small tear in your eye and one less pair of bare feet
Had it only been the night before that we lit our cigarettes under the midnight moon and told our fortunes off the screen of a cracked phone
Trembling hands dancing like moths under the soft tongued candle
It seems like we never really knew each other except for that night
A congregating of silhouettes to fade like colors in the sky
old goodbyes
I think next week’s post will be my last for a while…not sure when I’ll be back! Thanks for joining me, when you did!
Your Friend,
Kyra
